intertidal zone
During ebb tide, or when the tide begins to recede, the intertidal zone is exposed to ultraviolet rays, resulting in water evaporation.
The intertidal zone can be flushed with fresh water due to rain, but may still exhibit a high level of salinity due to evaporat- ing seawater.
Littoral zones can be distinguished into upper tidal flats, intertidal zones, and infralittoral zones according to the height of the sea surface.
